This is definitely one of your strongest pieces. Your technique in this one is superior. It looks like it's a painting. That's really what I want to do in my own digital art. It looks way better to me than the overly smooth-looking stuff I see everywhere. It's more a thing of fantasy than something captured from what we can already perceive in every day life. That's pretty much why I don't do realism. It's just not as interesting to me because of the fact that we can see it out our windows. It's not the product of imagination and there is often no imaginative touch to realism. It's usually merely a copy of a picture or something sitting right in front of you, not that realism does not require a great deal of skill, which it does. I also like the clothes. I can see myself wearing similar stuff to a lot of the outfits in your darker drawings, or I have worn something similar. Very nice.
Thank you. I think this piece is a perfect example if what i am trying to accomplish digital painting style wise. I totally agree on the realism thing, I feel if I can snap a picture of it, why bother painting it? realism is good on a study basis to apply to non realistic paintings but that is all i have found useful about it. I also agree on the overly smooth blurred look, I personally am not a fan, I love texture, and think its amazing when artists pull it off well. As for the clothing I love painting them, it's so fun to just design things.
Your light and value in this is awesome! Im digging the colours too. Her eyes bring the piece together and give it a real dark sense. Love it as always!
