Persephone

This is my rendition of the Greek goddess Persephone

Her story goes like this.
She is the daughter of Demeter and Zues. She was known as a goddess of nature, She was very beautiful and had a few of the male gods after her hand but her mother Demeter refused their gifts.
well one day as she was in a field picking flowers with a few nymphs, Hades, god of the underworld, burst out from a cleft in the Earth and abducted her. Demeter was distraught by this, which caused a famine (seeing how she was the nature goddess of the harvest). Due to the cries of the famine Zues demands Hades to return Persephone.

There is a problem, there is a rule in the underworld, if any food or drink is consumed there, one must remain there for eternity.

Hades had tricked Persephone into eating (what stories say) between 6-8 pomegranate seeds. Sealing her ties with him.

The gods found this out after Hermes was sent to retrieve her, but when Persephone and Demeter were reunited the Earth flourished with growth.

Having eaten the seeds Persephone was not free from her hell.

A deal was struck. For each seed consumed Persephone would spend a period in time (added up = 1 season) in the underworld, by Hades' side as his queen.

This season is winter.

when Persephone goes to the underworld Demeter is saddened and the world becomes barren until her daughter's return
