Want behind the art info? A chance to win prints? A chance to take a look at the process? then "like" my Facebook Art Page

This was a sketch I did a while back. added a few elements in there as kind of an experiment

I am going to start doing some more alternative looks in my art..I have some ideas I want to try, and some I want to recycle.

Enjoy the mood of this work very much, Cannot be sure if the Lady is an angel who somewhere along the line lost her way, of a demoness with an epiphany hell bent on reform. i get the sense she had a revelation and maybe made a New Years resolution to set her own prisoners free in a pact that would also free herself. After opening the door of the cage on a snowy night street however, her companion looks to have flown the coop while she stand still shackled and enslaved, with eyes and an expression that says hey wait for me. Love the way her strings of pearls bind her wings with a weight the feels as heavy as aircraft carrier anchor chains. How the bulbs on the ends look like Christmas ornaments but also seem as heavy as the steel balls on the end of the finest chain in the dungeons of the Bastille. Stone walls may not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage, but perhaps the glitz and glamour of singular pursuit of material possessions and faux ornamentation do.

:-) :-) very impressive interpretation. You have nailed the concept for sure. I wasn't meaning a reference to Christmas, but it is a nice observation. I love it when people find their own bits of interpretation.

The ornaments on the end of the Lady's pearl strings simply reminded me of Christmas tree ornaments so that became an available hand railing to help me get my thought out thinking of all the materialism that has come to be hung on that formerly religious celebration. The plot certainly should not be tied down by my time table or calendar for your work stands exceptionally well on its own.

I like the fallen angel-like impression it makes. :)

She's sort of a fallen angel..in a way.. escaping with new and innocent souls so they don't have to know the "pains of the flesh"

That's an interesting approach. I think everyone wants to escape pain.
